    trousers or “pantaloons” in old english didn’t turn up until a few centuries ago. previous tot hat everybody wore robes.
    men tarted wearing them because when the industrial revolution came pants didn;t tangle in machinery . more men used machinery than women.

    That and trousers were more efficient in warfare. You were not likely to tangle your legs up.
