kenbfos asked:

I need a great name for a baby or kids clothing company. I have had such great advice from yahoo answers, I know that I will not be let down.

    This Small

It’s a play on words regarding the “This Tall to Ride” phrase that many kids see at amusement parks and such.

By taking that phrase (which breaks many kids hearts… me being one of them so long ago!) and switching it around to empower the child you’re making them feel special.

You could paint a measurer (like at the theme parks w/ a clown or animal or whatever) on the outside wall with a certain height restiction. Paint a sign that says, “You must be at least this small to shop inside.” I don’t know at what height kids stop wearing kids clothes, so you’ll have to figure that out.

Play on that idea and maybe put quarter rides in the store… like a mechanical horse or whatnot. Maybe sell other things like candy or popcorn like they do at carnivals. Who knows… there’s so many possibilities.

I’ll stop now as I feel people are reading this and shaking their heads. Haha.

How about getting a translation guide (paperback or on the internet) and converting some regular kid clothes or store words into some cool lanquage.

Like, since I’m German I mind find the name Die Kleider von Kind which means kids’s clothes, (using freetranslations.com) but that doesn’t sound too cute. In Italian it’s Vestiti di Bambino, which is a little better. But you probably get what I mean.

Or Kool Kids Klothes. Sorry, I guess that’s silly.

Since any names that are suggested here may already be owned by another party, I wanted to go a different route…

I suggest either hiring a name creation firm or get together with your friends and/or family and throw a “name party” & have everyone bounce some ideas around. Compile a listing of names that you like the best. Once you have that list, do as much free research as you can before you delve into comprehensive research.

I listed some links where you can do some preliminary name checking. However, please be aware that this is merely scratching the surface of what’s out there.

Only comprehensive research will tell you if the name is truly available. But, these links are free & a great place to start, so I’d try them out first.

Comprehensive research consists of looking at marks that are similar in Sound, Appearance or Meaning in the pending & registered Federal AND State trademark files as well as the US National Common-Law files.

There are other sites that offer free searching capabilities in conjunction with their commercial services, so I’m not able to post those links due to the Yahoo! TOS. You’ll also want to check domain names & yellow pages, so simply do a search for “free domain name search” and “national yellowpages” and the appropriate links will pop up.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!
