Am I dumber than the average computer user? Being reduced to that mentality bothers me in a big way because I know I am not stupid. But at times when I need to get the answer to a technical issue I will check with a computer guru. Many times, their bodily actions tell me that I am bothering them.
‘Why is my computer suddenly slow’, how difficult can that phrase really be. It is not like I was asking for the keys to the corporate car but I just wanted a decent response for an issue that I was having with my computer. It really is a piece of cake almost as easy as falling off a bicycle but without the pain. As a computer user I almost feel that we have been dumbed down to keep other people empowered with fixing these kinds of problems. Slow computers have become a mainstay among many people. The thought is ‘That is the way it is’ but in reality it does not have to be. It comes down to user education and using common sense and not letting a self-proclaimed techie mis-diagnosis the real problem. Many times it is that very mentality of not wanting to be bothered that pushes the actual problem out of sight. In what I have discovered is the operating system that is the failing point. Just like a car the operating system needs cleaning so the bad oil does not gunk up the engine.
Pay attention here this is the crazy part. Microsoft created Obese software. By that I mean it runs great but as time goes on it gets slower and slower. Because there are three core properties that causes this slow down. The Registry itself, the Windows Startup items, and improperly Uninstalled applications. This is the bulk of the Fat inside Windows that slows a computer down enormously.
So dismiss the thought or suggestion from someone that you need to rush out and buy a new computer. That is false information and misleading. So ask yourself this question. Is it cheaper to buy a new computer for well over $1,000 or is it cheaper to spend around $30 to keep the computer running better? Hmmmm. Seems like a no brainer for me and I know that you agree.
