Do you have any tips for opening up an online clothing store?

My friends and I are opening up our own little store online where people can purchase our designs. We are going to go to Goodwill and garage sales and buy inexpensive clothing with fabric that we like. Then we are going to use the fabric for our own designs. Does anyone have experience in this? Do you have any tips?

You should start by selling on. I am working on my first collection right now. I am going to be selling on etsy while I am in fashion school and then when graduate I am going to go wholesale. Read “The Fashion Designer Survival Guide.” Advertising is really important online. If you have the cash (shop around and do a google search on online advertising its not that expensive) pay to advertise on sites that will be frequented by your target market. Promote your self on myspace, flicker and create your on blog and go with a website host like Yahoo. Email me and we can bounce ideas off of each other if you want. Good Luck!!

If you are coming to a place like this for advice, mine would be don’t do it at all because you don’t know what you are doing and will lose your shirt.

I would try setting up a shop on etsy or ecrater. I have a shop on ecrater (it’s 100% free to open a shop, great way to test it out). You can see mine at
