Has Scotland moved to North Carolina USA?

Most people would expect to find that Scotland had the largest number of Scots but they would be wrong. In reality the state of North Carolina USA has more people of Scottish descent than does Scotland.

Not a surprising piece of news to those who know their Scottish History. Large numbers of people left Scotland for the New World of America following the Scottish highland clearances. If you visit the Laird of Jura website you will read about how nearly 2,000 people left the Isle of Jura in Argyll and the surrounding areas on a fleet of boats on an expedition that settled in North Carolina.

Some parts of North Carolina even today could still be confused with parts of Scotland. Here are some of the similarities:

The town of Laurinberg is situated in the state county of “Scotland”.

The town high school is of course called “Scotland High School”. And to go with that the School song is the national anthem of Scotland “Scotland the Brave”.

The school has a marching band who all wear the Royal Stewart Tartan. And of course they have a prize winning bagpipe band wearing the full kilt.

The school Football, Baseball and the Basketball teams are called the “Fighting Scots”. (Did you know that the game of Basketball was invented by a Scottish American who was charged with finding some sports activity for youths to play indoors during bad weather? Its true!)

The local college is St Andrews Presbyterian College (St Andrew is of course the patron saint of Scotland) has a huge bronze statue of a highlander in native dress waving a Claymore sword.

The College is also home to the Scottish Heritage Centre.

Feeling hungry? Visit the local fast food company called Scottish Foods using a Scottish bagpiper as its main logo.

The area even has a soccer team called the Scottish Claymores.

We cannot ignore the fact that many local street names are named after places in Scotland including Skye, Argyllshire, Oban, Kintyre.

Do you know any other place which is more Scottish than this town in North Carolina?

Looking for a unique gift idea for someone with a Scottish connection then make them a Scottish landowner.

Duchess asked:

Why do women seem to do this? I can’t understand how they think it’s warm out to wear skirts and flip flops. Is that even smart, just wondering?

The Guru Assassin Formulas: A Preview From My Advance Copy

If you are involved in Internet Marketing, and haven’t heard of Jonny Andrews, you are in for a treat.

Jonny is like a breath of fresh air, both in his writing style, and the clarity with which he slashes through the normal  hocus-pocus sold my many so-called “marketing gurus.”

He is direct. He speaks with authority and energy. Most importantly, his low-cost and no-cost  techniques work.

In his 2008 publication, “The Money Siphon,” Jonny created a remarkably simple blueprint for making money with affiliate programs. Perhaps his most valuable segment was how to rapidly create free website traffic and high Google rankings. I recently used his exact techniques during a lunch break to garner the Top 4 spots in Google for a target keyword phrase, so his methods clearly get the job done.

Jonny’s techniques are always simple and free or low cost, and have worked better for me — and more rapidly — than other marketing tactics that are much more expensive. Reading one of Jonny’s publications is a bit like getting Tiffany quality for Wal-Mart prices.

His latest release, “The Guru Assassin,” lets you know right away that it is not a typical marketing ebook. With a title like that, you know he must be spilling the beans on secrets the gurus would rather you not have … and you would be correct.

In “The Guru Assassin” Jonny Andrews focuses again on free and very low cost techniques that get the Gurus to come to YOU, and drive traffic to your website FOR you. Sure, you can throw your money away on expensive Google Adwords PPC “test” campaigns, but why bother when it isn’t necessary. In his private preview, he  revealed a breath-takingingly simple model for creating a legitimate million-dollar online business in 24 months.

Unlike get-rich-qick scammers, he is realistic about the time needed to succeed. Where he differs with them is in how hard you have to work. His streamlined, productive models are marvels of common sense and efficiency — and it is easy to see why his fellow “insiders” would not want others in on the secrets he unleashes.

Jonny reveals his Guru Assassin tactics quickly, within a few pages, without trying to impress you with worthless volume. This is a hallmark of all his publications. He believes in cutting right to the chase, rather than throwing a lot of generalized information at you.

He shows his laser-targeted formula for making sure you make money in any internet project you tackle. He lists the four “GO!” criteria you need before you launch any project, so you don’t waste your money like many marketers (even experienced ones.)

Next he reveals how to give Google the finger and run your campaign almost cost-free … he helps you avoid the one mistake most marketers make (even if they are experienced) … and he shows WHEN to spend money so that it can make a difference.

“The Guru Assassin” strategies are point and shoot simple, so you simply can’t miss. Jonny Andrews has a knack for writing and explaining things right to the point. He offers four major approaches, so you can succeed no matter which niche you are looking to exploit.

To make his approach more powerful, “The Guru Assassin” includes videos so you can look over his shoulder as he completes each step. It just can’t get any easier than that.

Want to earn money online? Want to build a truly profitable business online business? The Guru Assassin shows you the fastest, shortest, cheapest routes. Period.

When did skirts become something only for women to wear?

women skirts
perpil asked:

at some point in history it was probably decided that skirts are for women, and pants are for men. when, and why?
I would appreciate answers with content that actually makes sense. thank you.

Many Characters from the past wore skirts and robes. Biblical characters, Roman soldiers, ancient Greeks, etc. So what happened that created the distinction?

Finding Above The Line Tax Reductions for your return in 2009

When it comes to federal internet taxes, your goal should be to pay just what’s necessary, nothing more. Since your tax liability is determined by your income, the surest way to lower the taxes you pay is to reduce your income. Of course, you need to do this without technically reducing your income. You can do this by taking legal above-the-line tax deductions.

Above-the-line-tax deductions are more like tax breaks that are adjustments to your income. They’re identified as above-the-line because they are subtracted on the first page of the tax return just above the bottom line. These deductions limit your adjustable gross income and ultimately reduce your tax liability.

The list below are a few above-the-line tax deductions that are discussed in our Internet Tax Guide which you should take if you are eligible.

• Moving expenses, if you relocated for professional purposes.

• Self-employment. Half the amount of taxes that are paid to Social Security and Medicare.

• Self-employed retirement plans.

• Self-employed health insurance. The total amount you pay in health insurance fees not only for yourself, but for your spouse and dependents as well. Even contributions towards long-term care policies are deductible.

• Penalties paid for early withdrawal of savings. The account manager of such an account should send you a 1099-INT or 1099-OID form including the early withdrawal penalty.

• Alimony payments. If you are divorced and funding alimony, you can deduct these payments from your income. You must include your ex-spouse’s social security number; or the deduction might be disallowed.

• IRA deductions for amounts contributed to traditional IRAs for people who are self-employed.

• Student loan interest. Up to $2,500 in student loan interest paid can be deducted for single filers making $65,000 or less or joint filers making $135,000 or less.

• Jury duty pay if it was turned over to your employer.

You can obtain many of these above-the-line tax deductions by using the long form, 1040. If you prefer to use the short from, 1040A, you may still take a few of these deductions. Early account withdrawal penalties, IRA contributions, student loan interest and jury pay are the above-the-line-tax deductions that are allowed on the 1040A tax return. Consult with your personal tax consultant for more details.

Creating Web Pages

The Internet is probably already our prime source of entertainment these days. I mean, come on, think about how much time you actually spend online. We download music, watch movies, send email, work, write, and frolic endlessly in cyberspace, you name it. Suddenly, all the rage is to create web pages. Everyone seems to want their own website or page to post whatever.

Web pages are owned by countless computer goers. The big thing is, they’re free. If you desire your own personal space for others to review and comment, no problem, it’s available. Everyone is taking advantage of this goldmine of freedom and space that comes without a price tag, and the best thing is, it is infinite. It literally can’t run out.

Internet sites such as smplanet.com and superpages.com will aid you in your journey to a personal web page. You can actually create web pages in minutes. Other sites like myspace.com are ruled by millions of random people, just looking for a place to post pictures and info about their selves and families. It is a good way to communicate and share on a public site without the hassle of monthly fees.

Although these personal web pages have become so popular, there are measures to take when diving into cyberspace. We have to remember that once we post information on these public sites, our lives can be viewed by millions, and we may not always like who’s viewing. It is always good to be careful as to what you post for the world to see.

The phenomenal Internet has provided all of us with a modem, access to infinite things. Creating web pages is just another cog in the machine. The idea and possibilities are endless. If you wish to create a web page for mere blogging, this is an option as well. For those who are not blog savvy, let me offer a quick clarification. Blogging has become prominent for many reasons. Two of which are; it’s free, and it’s easy. If you’re looking to sell something, start a blog, if you’re looking to get advice, start a blog, if you’re trying to buy stuff, start a blog, or even if you’re looking for employees of some sort and wish for a larger audience, start a blog. A good site to check into in reference to blogging is blogger.com, which is also free.

Yes, creating your own web pages is certainly a popular choice these days. If you’re looking to post without dealing with fees or monthly charges, no worries, the Internet has it covered.

PPCBully Honest Review: New Pay-per-click Tough Guy

Like many marketers, I am always trying to find an edge. Lately, I have been focusing on how to make more money with PPC traffic. PPC campaigns can really chew up money if you don’t stay right on top of them.

So I was intrigued when I came across PPC Bully. The opening page on the website said:

“Hire your competitors to work for you … for free!”

“PPC Bully reveals your competitors’ winning combinations of Keywords, Ads, Landing Pages and even Merchants, enabling you to know up front what works (and what doesn’t).”

That sounded great … but a little illegal. How could you even do that and not get thrown into jail or slapped by Google? I was more than a little suspicious.

But I have to admit I was pulled in by the possibility of KNOWING my PPC campaign would be profitable BEFORE I launched it. Even if it felt like an oversell on their part.

Their website was really bright and inviting. The graphics showed very clearly how complicated a normal PPC campaign is …. and PPC (pay-per-click) IS really almost like Vegas, because you are taking a crapshoot that your ad, keywords, and placement are going to work. You don’t know until you spend your money.

In marketing they call it “testing.” I call it “gambling!”

Anyway, After I watched the VIDEO TOUR, I was almost in … but not quite.

But they got me with the PPC Bully LIVE DEMO … they actually let you tryout a simplified interface of the tool. (If more marketers were brave enough to do this, they could sell a lot more stuff. But you don’t see this kind of opportunity very often.)

After doing THAT, I was telling myself, “This thing really works.” I was tired of struggling to make my PPC campaigns profitable. Maybe the big-boys knew something I didn’t, but I was ready for some help.

The PPC Bully techniques and tool seemed so simple …. plug in your keywords, sit back, and wait for a week or so while the software decides what campaigns and ads have ALREADY been successful …. then you pattern your campaign after THEIRS …. well, if it worked, it was pretty much a no-brainer. And I could make my money back in no time ….

I don’t know about you, but I’d rather bet on a “sure thing.”

So I bit the bullet, dived in, paid my $49, plugged in some keywords in a niche I had been working and … waited. About 10 days in my case, because I had to go out of town for a few days and couldn’t get back online.

When I got back I discovered …..

It worked.

And that is when I decided to write this PPCBully review. The system shows you with little “dollar signs” which campaigns and keywords you should take a look at. It is like having a pay-per-click PROFIT ROADMAP …. just fall-off-the-chair simple.

I took the information it gave me, tweaked it just a tiny bit, and loaded up my own Adwords PPC campaign in my new market. A month later, I was rmaking over $100 a day most days on the campaign.

I know, that isn’t much compared to the major players out there (and there is no guarantee that you would do the same thing,) but a lot of people work 8 hours a day to make that much … and I am making that off of ONE campaign — doing NOTHING.

It just sits there and churns out cash for me every day. (In fact, I had surgery recently, and it kept adding up the cash on autopilot while I recuperated.)

I’m pretty excited to test out some new markets with PPC Bully.

A couple of PPCBully negatives, though.

1. First of all, you have to take the time, 1-2 weeks, to gather the “intelligence.” If you are trying to use PPC to grab some quick cash, this is not the way to go.

2. Because it takes some time, PPC Bully is also not good if you are trying to “milk” a product launch … because you will not have the information fast enough for the big products.

However, if the launch is a product with “legs,” PPCBully is a great way to ride out the initial hooplah, then quietly collect some cash from a more stable market with less pay-per-click ad competition/high ad costs (and after the launch-goons have hit, grabbed their quick money, and moved onto another hot new product — you can still be making a nice little income.)

3. If you are dirt poor, PPC Bully costs $49/month. There are two ways to look at this:

(a) If you don’t have any money, PPC campaigns are NOT the best way for you to start out anyway. So PPCBully would not be a good choice for you.

(b) If you are a budding entrepreneur starting out with pay-per-click, listen carefully. You are VERY likely to lose MUCH more than $49 a month if you just “take your best guess” about too many PPC campaigns without actually KNOWING what will work. If you aren’t careful, you can crank one up before bed, let it run overnight, and wake up with a $200-$300 Google bill if you aren’t careful with your settings or make a misjudgment.

PPC Bully evens the playing field, and gives you MUCH more of a fighting chance of succeeding. It just takes a little more patience, especially when you have a hot idea and are itching to throw it up on the Google wall and see if it sticks.

My PPC Bully Review bottom line buying advice ….

If you are SERIOUS about using pay-per-click to drive traffic to ANY program or website, you need PPCBully.

It is user friendly. Plug in some keywords, and wait for the dollar signs to appear on your profitable keywords.

It is not high tech. No software to load. No scripts to wrestle with. Just sign up, login online anytime, and load new keywords or check your results. That simple.

It is cost-effective. PPC is an awesome way to drive traffic, because YOU can control “turning on the spigot.” Traffic on demand. But it IS more risky, because a bad campaign can cost you a bundle.

If you are an average marketer without the natural “Midas Touch” that a chosen few seem to have, then PPCBully is EXACTLY what you need to succeed.

PLUG IN THE KEYWORDS.

WAIT.

FIND THE WINNING CAMPAIGNS. $$$$ = Ca-Ching!

PATTERN YOUR CAMPAIGN AFTER THE WINNERS.

It can’t get any easier than that.
